Bad Stuff! : sticky on your face, your blade, & your sinkNov 03, 2010
By Christopher Wise I normally like Burt's Bees products, and have been wetshaving with a double edged Merkur razor with platinum blades for quite a while. Burt's Bees used to make Bay Rum shaving soap cakes that lathered well and had a nice scent. I tried this shaving cream expecting the same level of product.
It was VERY POOR compared to even dollar bars of shaving soap.
This cream stays very tacky when applied to the face, and does not mix with water well at all. As a lubricant it stays sticky on your face and gums up the razor blade badly. Even rinsing off the blade under a very hot tap does not clear the blade of hair and goo.
I tried using it straight on my face as a shaving lubricant and it remained sticky. I tried mixing it in a shaving bowl with a nice brush, and it produced no lather and got my brush sticky. It was completely useless as a shaving aid. Maybe the next time I need to paste together two sheets of paper I will get it out of the cabinet, but I recommend staying far far away from this stuff!

It must be useful for something, just not shaving!Aug 25, 2012
By B. Calder Like many here, I've used BB products in the past & really liked them. This one - no way. It doesn't provide any lubrication to the blade, and I look like I've shaved with a fork after using it. A complete waste of $$.
Burt - shave that beard off & you'll see what we mean!!

Good Shave Cream Without The ChemicalsJan 05, 2012
By Benjamin Bock I received this as a Christmas gift and tried it the next day. The scent is different than anything I had ever tried, but as I used it more, I began to enjoy it. I got the best results from washing my face first, then applying a thin layer of the shaving cream. With the natural moisturizers and soothing ingredients, I am not afraid to leave it on my face a few minutes before I begin to shave. Using a regular 2 blade disposable razor, I found the cream to provide a very smooth and close shave. The built-up on my razor washed away when I rinsed the blade under the warm running water, something that didn't happen with previous shaving creams I had used. I did have to rinse my face pretty well afterwards to get some residue, which isn't an issue, because I shave before I shower. Afterwards, I applied some aftershave moisturizer, and my face feels softer than it has in a very long time. I recommend trying this product, though it may not be for everyone.

Closest Shave YetJul 29, 2009
By M. Wallace First off, no this shaving cream does not lather, as some other reviewers have complained. It goes on in a thin film that is not unlike a thick lotion. If you're looking for foamy, go somewhere else. However, you should know that most of that foamy stuff creates too much cushion between your face and your razor. You will get a closer shave with this cream. I have a red, coarse beard, and I've never had a closer shave (I've never used a straight razor though). You simply cannot feel any beard stubble after using this. This is hands-down the best shaving cream I've ever used. And it has a pleasant, manly smell.
Love everything Burts BeesMay 20, 2013
By Hummingbird I love everything Burt's Bees, and this product is no exception. The price may seem a little high compared with the traditional cans of shaving cream you can buy at Walmart or Target, but you really get so much more in this tube .The product lasts longer, and is so much "nicer" {My husband has sensitive skin, and really prefers this over anything we've tried before}
